Breguet watches represent the epitome of watch making, with a client list to match - from King Louis XV1 and Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte through to Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill. Founded by A-L Breguet (1747-1823), he set the standard by which all fine watch making has since been judged. In 1810, he made the world's first wrist watch for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples. He was appointed to the Board of Longitude and entered the Academy of Sciences. He was bestowed with the Legion of Honour, receiving it personally from King Louis XV111.
Cartier was founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier. In 1904 they produced the first men's wristwatch "Santos". The Baignoire and Tortue models were introduced in 1912 and the Tank followed in 1917 - all still in production today! Cartier has a long history of serving royalty - most famously, for the "Panthére" brooch created for Wallis Simpson
Antoine LeCoultre founded his first workshop in 1833 following the invention of a machine to produce watchmaking pinions. Antoine LeCoultre and his son Elie decided to bring together under a single roof the many skills involved in making watches, a revolutionary concept for this period. In 1907 a collection of simple and complicated ultra-thin movements was created after the challenge set by Edmond Jaeger to Jacques-David LeCoultre in 1903 and which measured no more than 1.38 mm in thickness. This eventually culminated in the founding of the Jaeger LeCoultre brand in 1937. In 1925 The Duoplan watch was launched with the world's smallest movement, Calibre 101. The Reverso watch was launched in 1931 with its swivel system made it possible to respond to the challenge set by British officers stationed in India. Reverso soon became an Art Deco classic and an embodiment of all the values of this movement. Between 1945 and 2000 Futurematic, Memovox, Geophysic amongst other iconic Jaeger LeCoultre were added to the range.
In 1860 Giovanni Panerai opens a watchmaker’s shop in Florence, the “Orologeria Svizzera”. 1916 Guido Panerai registers the first of many patents to mark Panerai’s long history in innovation. To meet the military requirement of the Royal Italian Navy, Panerai creates Radiomir. 1936 the prototype of the Radiomir watch is created for the underwater exploits of the Command of the First Submarine Corp, with many of the features which still distinguish it today: a large steel cushion-shaped case (47 mm), luminous numerals and markers, wire loop strap attachments welded to the case, a Rolex hand-wound mechanical movement, a wide water-resistant strap, long enough to be fastened over the diving suit. 1943 Officine Panerai presents the prototype of the first Panerai chronograph, the Mare Nostrum, designed for deck officers. 1956 Panerai develops the “Egyptian” for the Egyptian Navy, an underwater watch of exceptional size and solidity, fitted with a marked bezel for calculating immersion times. In the same year the patent is registered for the crown-protecting bridge which becomes the trademark of the Luminor models. In 1993 the first civilian collection by Officine Panerai- three limited edition models inspired by those created for Second World War military operations but made according to the highest modern technical standards. 2005 : International launch of the first Panerai movement, P.2002: a hand-wound calibre with GMT function and a 8-day power reserve, inspired by the Angelus movement of the 1940s. 2007 : Officine Panerai presents three new calibres entirely conceived and developed in-house: P.2003, P.2004 and P.2005 with an innovative tourbillon escapement.

The Tudor brand was registered in 1926 by the Swiss watch company " Veuve de Phillippe Huther" on behalf of Hans Wilsdorf - the founder of Rolex. In 1936 he completely took over the "Tudor " brand and decided to produce a watch at a more modest price but yet attain the quality and dependability of a Rolex. Tudor watches are very capable of being used difficult environments. The Royal Navy used them in their expedition to Greenland in 1952; issued to the US and French Navy and various other institutions under testing conditions to demonstrate the quality of resistance, reliability and precision of the Tudor range.
