Breguet watches represent the epitome of watch making, with a client list to match - from King Louis XV1 and Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte through to Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill. Founded by A-L Breguet (1747-1823), he set the standard by which all fine watch making has since been judged. In 1810, he made the world's first wrist watch for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples. He was appointed to the Board of Longitude and entered the Academy of Sciences. He was bestowed with the Legion of Honour, receiving it personally from King Louis XV111.
Cartier was founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier. In 1904 they produced the first men's wristwatch "Santos". The Baignoire and Tortue models were introduced in 1912 and the Tank followed in 1917 - all still in production today! Cartier has a long history of serving royalty - most famously, for the "Panthére" brooch created for Wallis Simpson
Antoine LeCoultre founded his first workshop in 1833 following the invention of a machine to produce watchmaking pinions. Antoine LeCoultre and his son Elie decided to bring together under a single roof the many skills involved in making watches, a revolutionary concept for this period. In 1907 a collection of simple and complicated ultra-thin movements was created after the challenge set by Edmond Jaeger to Jacques-David LeCoultre in 1903 and which measured no more than 1.38 mm in thickness. This eventually culminated in the founding of the Jaeger LeCoultre brand in 1937. In 1925 The Duoplan watch was launched with the world's smallest movement, Calibre 101. The Reverso watch was launched in 1931 with its swivel system made it possible to respond to the challenge set by British officers stationed in India. Reverso soon became an Art Deco classic and an embodiment of all the values of this movement. Between 1945 and 2000 Futurematic, Memovox, Geophysic amongst other iconic Jaeger LeCoultre were added to the range.
Omega is one of the most recognised brands in the world. It was the first watch on the moon in 1969, official timekeeping device in the Olympics Games and used in James Bond films since 1995. In 1999, Omega made history by introducing the first mass-produced watch incorporating the co-axial escapement.
Vacheron Constantin is officially the oldest watch company in Switzerland as it was established in 1755. It was simply called Vacheron until 1814 when a third generation Vacheron took in a partner by the name of F Constantin to invest and take over the international marketing and sales for the company. From then on Vacheron Constantin has striven to create only the finest, most complicated and beautiful timepieces in the world. Vacheron Constantin has long been considered one of the top horology houses in the world and these days Vacheron watches are loved by traditional, contemporary and modern watch enthusiasts alike.
